Ashley Creek Ranch

Location

Kila, Montana

In the sweeping expanse of northwest Montana, Ashley Creek Ranch unfolds across 2,500 acres of pastoral meadows and rugged terrain. At its heart stands a century-old barn, lovingly reconstructed between two ancient rock outcroppings—its silhouette both a relic and a rebirth.

Early planning focused on redefining the land itself. Eighty acres were thoughtfully regraded to shield the ranch quarters from the noise of a nearby highway, allowing the landscape to reclaim its natural rhythm. Central to this restoration was the realignment of Ashley Creek, guiding its waters back to a meandering, historic course that had long been lost.

This work transcended aesthetics. By restoring the riparian corridor, the project earned both mitigation and conservation credits, enabling the client to receive meaningful tax incentives. Ecological repair and thoughtful design worked in tandem—restoring not just land, but legacy.
